Genco Gülan (born 1969, İstanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish multidisciplinary artist, painter, sculpter, writer, stage designer, director and video, internet, performance artist. Genco Gülan makes conceptual art with an interest in"new". He studied Political Science and Art at Bogazici University, Istanbul then he pursued an MA degree on Media Studies at New School University, New York. Gülan have been making solo shows in Istanbul, Graz, Duisburg, New York, Seoul and Zagreb since 1990s. He got prizes from BP, New School, Lions and E.M.A.F. His works appeared in museums such as; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Pera, Istanbul; ZKM, Karlsruhe and MAM, Rio de Janeiro. He participated to festivals such as; Steirishes Herbst, Graz; Ars Electronica, Linz; Mediaterra, Athens and Balkan Art, Novi Sad. His net-art pieces have been exhibited at irishmuseumofmodernart.org, rhizome.org and kanonmedia.com/ His works listed in the required reading lists at; City University, New York, Rice University and U.C. Santa Barbara. Gülan gave conferences at Yale, School of Visual Arts and New York Institute of Technology. Genco Gülan and his art has been referred to by Newsweek, Herald Tribune, NY Arts, Art in America, Das Kunst, Beaux Arts and Idomenee. He is in the collections such as Abraham Lubelski New York, Marie-Laure Novak, Paris and Elgiz Museum Istanbul. His monograph, written by art historian Marcus Graf is published with the title "Conceptual Colors". Genco Gülan was in the Advisory Board of Balkan Biennial, Cosmopolis 2004 Thessaloniki and International Programming Committee of ISEA 2008 Singapore. Currently he is in the editorial Board of Second Nature Journal Melbourne and teaches at Mimar Sinan Academy, Bogazici and Yeditepe, Universities of Istanbul.
